An Ohio man has been accused of trying to strangle a police officer during a disturbance at Orlando International Airport, as reported by WFTV-9.
The accused, 41-year-old Edward Hariston, was arrested and booked into the Orange County jail on charges of attempted murder of a law enforcement officer, battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting an officer with violence, and disorderly conduct.

On Tuesday, the Spirit Airlines ticket counter at the airport notified the police about a disturbance taking place.
When officers arrived at the scene, they encountered a large group of people becoming aggressive with Spirit staff and making threats towards them.
While the group continued to argue loudly, a Spirit ticket agent called for police assistance and claimed that Hariston had assaulted him.

The police approached Hariston and a woman who were engaged in a heated argument with a Spirit employee.

Police Officer Rendered Unconscious in Chokehold at Spirit Airlines Ticket Counter, Incident Report States
According to the incident report, Hariston allegedly put the officer in a chokehold and tightened his grip when the officer tried to grab his arm to subdue him.
The officer stated that he lost consciousness as the chokehold restricted his airflow, causing dizziness and visual impairment.
“I began to get dizzy and immediately spotty as my airflow was restricted and I was beginning to lose consciousness,” the officer said in the incident report.
A video of the incident was posted on TikTok, showing multiple officers intervening to subdue Hariston.
Video Shows Aftermath of Chokehold Arrest at Airport; Suspect Claims “He Could’ve Killed” the Officer
Fox 35 Orlando reports that the video clip corresponds to the same incident involving Hariston.
The officer, who remains anonymous, eventually managed to free himself from the chokehold. However, the incident report did not mention any severe injuries sustained by the officer.
According to WFTV-9, Hariston later commented that he spared the officer’s life and claimed that he could have killed him.
As of the publication of this article, Hariston is being held at the Orange County jail with no bond set.
