According to an article from HipHopDX, R. Kelly has been ordered to pay over $500,000 in royalties to the courts. The report states that Kelly will need to disburse this money to his victims.

It is reported that the United States Court in the Northern District of Illinois issued a third-party citation to Universal Music Group in May, in order to uncover Kelly’s assets. The citation required Universal Music Group to disclose the amount of outstanding royalties Kelly still needed to be paid for songwriting.

According to documents obtained by the outlet, Universal Music Group still owes Kelly $567,444.19 in unpaid royalties. However, Kelly himself will not receive any of this money.

As per Radar Online, the royalties will be used to compensate Kelly’s victims, who have reportedly only received about $27,000 thus far.

About a year ago, Kelly was sentenced to 30 years in prison for charges related to sex trafficking and racketeering. In February, he was also sentenced to 20 years in prison for child pornography. Currently, he is serving both sentences concurrently in Butner Federal Prison in North Carolina.

Kelly’s crimes have been the focus of various documentaries, including the Lifetime docuseries called Surviving R. Kelly.
